Humanizing vertical mobility
The theme of the CTBUH 2023 conference is "Humanizing High Density". We asked Robert Boog, Head of Global Large Projects, what it means for vertical mobility.
16 to 21 October 2023 | Singapore & Kuala Lumpur
Singapore & Kuala Lumpur: 16 to 21 October 2023
Humanizing High Density – People, Nature & the Urban Realm will advance the fundamental premise that high-density urbanization can support healthy living, working, and civic and social engagement. It will examine issues of livability in the ongoing discourse about future cities and explore solutions for:
How can smart mobility solutions enhance the quality of urban living? How can we build a better future together?
"Change is the only constant." That maxim, attributed to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, still holds true two thousand years on. And it holds particularly true for cities, which for centuries have been shaped and reshaped by different forces – some natural, some cultural, some economic.
During the conference, our two senior Schindler experts Robert Boog and Dr. Florian Trösch will provide insights into smart mobility, and how digitalization can make buildings safer, more efficient, sustainable, and attractive.
Robert Boog
Managing Director, Global Large Projects
Find out how we look at density as a series of peaks and lulls of human activity, and how this influences the way we design, install and maintain smart and sustainable mobility solutions for the cities of today and tomorrow.
Dr. Florian Troesch
Head Transit Management & Digital Solutions
Earlier this year, we announced the launch of Schindler MetaCore, a brand-new elevator system based on Schindler PORT 4D technology designed to allow both new and existing buildings to be continuously – and rapidly – reconfigured to suit the needs of tomorrow.
Schindler MetaCore has been recognized as a winner of "Award of Excellence" and will compete for the overall Innovation Award as well as the Audience Award (Category Innovation) 2023.
Rami Youssef
Project Director at Uptown Tower
Rami will present how Schindler R.I.S.E, The world's first self-climbing, autonomous robotic installation system, helped improve efficiency and safety on the construction site. Schindler R.I.S.E handled repetitive and physically draining tasks, reducing the amount of time spent in the shafts by the fitters.
The performance of Schindler R.I.S.E in Uptown Tower has been recognized as a winner of "Award of Excellence" and will compete for the Construction Award as well as the Audience Award (Category Construction) 2023.
In addition to the speakers, Sophia Wang - Head Strategy & Program Management, Global Large Projects - has been selected to serve in the "Future Project Award" jury, which recognizes design proposals and visions that that will soon shape our cities, skylines, and push existing technical and structural limits.

Head Strategy & Program Management, Global Large Projects
The Future Project Award recognizes projects and breakthroughs that have not yet have been realized, but have been thoroughly documented and considered. It will focus on building designs that best advance sustainable vertical urbanism through innovation, efficiency, and potential influence on the industry.
Singapore is a showroom for how Schindler is using innovative technologies at every stage of the escalator and elevator lifecycle.
